WELCOME TO ATHENS
Upon arrival to the airport, you will be greeted by a CareunderSun staff member. Afterwards enjoy the exciting scenery of Athens's streets during the 30min drive to your hotel. Overflowing with history and mythology, Athens is a vibrant city, enlivened by bustling outdoor cafes, pedestrian friendly streets that wind through the city's ancient sites. Athens is a city full of urban eccentrics, diversity, and contrasts. In the afternoon, close to the hotels you can enjoy the accessible beach with Seatrac. An additional option depending on the time of arrival is booking a half day excursion to experience the highlights of Athens.

Day 2
ATHENS ARACHOVA DELPHI

Today the trip takes you to Delphi, a picturesque town lying on the slopes of Mount Parnassus high above the Gulf of Corinth, and is one of the most famous historic sites in Greece. During our drive to Delphi we will make a stop in the mountain town of Arachova. This quaint village sits on the slopes of Mount Parnassus and is nestled in the heart of nature at an altitude of 950 meters. Arachova boasts a wonderful view of the mountainous landscape and attracts travelers of all ages with its vivid nightlife. Once in Delphi, you will visit the famous Amphitheater, which offers a breathtaking mountainous view and you will have the opportunity to get a better insight into the world of the ancient Greeks. Next, explore the Temple of Apollo, which is part of the Panhellenic Sanctuary at Delphi and occupies a remote, but central location relative to Greek settlements. Finally, admire the sanctuary of Athena Pronaia, which is the most photographed place in Delphi. After having lunch in Delphi village we will drive north for an overnight stay in Kalambaka.

Day 3
METEORA
The region of Meteora is the second most important region of the Orthodox religion in Greece after Agios Oros. Meteora is a great place to experience. The complex is made up of twenty-four Eastern Orthodox monasteries that were built on giant sandstone rock pillars between the 14th and 16th centuries. It is a spectacular landscape with byzantine monasteries perched on top of steep rocks that house priceless artifacts and wall paintings. Today only six monasteries are active with a small number of monks or nuns who reside on Meteora. Enjoy the fascinating view while you learn about the religion. We will stop and visit the accessible monastery of Agios Stefanos. For lunch we will enjoy the traditional cuisine of the region at the monastery.

Day 4
METEORA and VERGINA
The ancient site of Aigai or modern name Vergina lies on the southwest edge of the plain of Macedonia in northern Greece, in the foothills of Mt Pieria. You need to come here to see the extraordinary subterranean museum of Vergina and the tombs of Philip II (father of Alexander the Great) and other family members of the great Macedonian dynasty. Apart from the royal tombs, you’ll see the brilliant frescoes depicting the Abduction of Persephone and the Royal Hunt, which are the only examples of the great artists of the Hellenistic period that have survived. In Pella you will learn about the ancient past while you explore the unique modern museum and archaeological site with the distinctive mosaics. Afterwards we will continue to the city to Thessaloniki.

THESALONIKI

Thessaloniki is a prominent Greek port city, ranking as the second largest in Greece. Situated on the Thermaic Gulf of the Aegean Sea, the city showcases a rich historical tapestry, with remnants of Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman eras. Particularly in Ano Poli, the upper town, you will encounter compelling traces of these civilizations.
During the Byzantine Empire, Thessaloniki held the distinction of being the second largest and wealthiest city. Following its conquest by the Ottomans in 1430, it remained a significant seaport and a multicultural metropolis for nearly five centuries. On November 8, 1912, Thessaloniki transitioned from Ottoman rule to becoming part of the Kingdom of Greece.
Thessaloniki boasts a remarkable architectural heritage, including numerous Paleochristian and Byzantine monuments, designated as a World Heritage Site. The city also encompasses noteworthy Roman, Ottoman, and Sephardic Jewish structures. Unfortunately, much of the city center was devastated in the Great Fire of 1917. However, it was rebuilt in the 20th century with a modern European layout.

The flavors of Thessaloniki are a fusion of local tastes influenced by the various cultures that have passed through the city, as well as recipes brought by Greek refugees from Asia Minor, Pontos, and Eastern Thrace. Today, Thessaloniki's culinary scene continues to evolve, with innovative chefs experimenting with traditional flavors to tantalize your taste buds.

THESSALONIKI - ATHENS
At the end, you will we embark on our journey back to Athens, following a scenic route along the highway that treats us to magnificent views and diverse landscapes.
