Day 2

ATHENS

Spend half a day exploring the diverse city of Athens, renowned for its historical monuments. Begin your journey by visiting the Acropolis, an ancient citadel perched on a rocky outcrop above Athens. It houses the remains of several remarkable ancient buildings, representing incredible architectural and historical significance. The Acropolis stands as a majestic reminder of the beauty and grandeur of ancient Athens.

Next, proceed to Olympion, where you will encounter the Temple of Olympian Zeus, also known as the Olympieion or Columns of the Olympian Zeus. This monumental structure once served as a colossal temple in the heart of Athens. Continuing your exploration, visit Panathinaiko Stadium, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. This extraordinary stadium is uniquely constructed entirely from marble.

Observe the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a war memorial situated in Syntagma Square, facing the parliament building in Athens. To conclude the day's adventures, enjoy a scenic drive along Panepistimiou Boulevard, where you will pass notable landmarks such as the Catholic Cathedral, the Academy of Athens, the University, and the National Library.

ATHENS to CORINTHOS

Embark on a journey westward from Athens, following the scenic route of Olimpia Odos. The distance between Athens and Corinth is approximately 120 km. During this excursion, we will explore significant ancient sites, including the Corinth Canal and the Port of Cehrees. Immerse yourself in the remnants of classical Corinth, where you can marvel at the Temple of Apollo and stand in the very place where St. Paul once preached.

Take a guided tour of the Museum, where you will encounter a collection of fascinating artifacts discovered at the archaeological site. Be captivated by the Corinth Canal, a remarkable engineering feat of the 19th century. Built in 1893, this steep-sided canal connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea.

Delight in these remarkable highlights at your own leisurely pace as we make our way to the hotel in Corinthos, where you can enjoy a relaxing afternoon.

Day 4

CORINTHOS - EPIDAURUS - NAFPLIO - NEMEA

After our departure from Corinthos, we will embark on a southward journey across the Peloponnese peninsula, immersing ourselves in the rich history of the region. Our first stop will be the ancient theater of Epidaurus, situated amidst stunning surroundings. In the past, Epidaurus served as a sanatorium closely connected to the healing temples of Asclepion. Asclepion, often regarded as the five-star hotel of ancient times, is considered the birthplace of medical science. Today, Epidaurus is renowned for its theater, known for having the most exceptional acoustics in the world. It continues to host the Festival of Epidaurus every summer.

Continuing our adventure, we will reach the enchanting village of Nafplio. From the hilltop Castle of Palamidi, enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of the Argolic Gulf. Once the capital of Greece before Athens, Nafplio showcases a fusion of architectural influences, including Venetian, Byzantine, Ottoman, and modern Greek styles. Explore its main attractions, such as Bourtzi Castle and Acronafplia, and wander through the city center's picturesque squares. Take in the sight of vibrant Venetian houses adorned with bougainvilleas cascading from their balconies. Indulge in a traditional Greek lunch and experience dining with the locals in a cozy tavern.

In the afternoon, as we make our way back to Corinthos, we will make a stop in one of Greece's renowned wine regions. Visit their cellars, learn about the wine production process, and discover the different varieties they offer. Take the opportunity to savor some of their exquisite wines.

OLYMPIA LEFKADA

Our journey continues today as we make our way to the ancient site of Olympia, the very birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore the remarkable archaeological site and the Museum of Olympia, home to a vast collection of artifacts and statues. Additionally, you can visit the Museum of the Olympic Games, where you can immerse yourself in the history and spirit of this iconic event. Marvel at the grandeur of the Temple of Zeus, Pelopion, the Temple of Hera, the Philippeion, the Phidias Workshop, and numerous other historical sites. Take a leisurely stroll around the stadium, soaking in the ambiance of this historic venue. It's truly fascinating to witness the spot where the Olympic flame is kindled, symbolizing the start of the Olympic Games before it travels across the globe.

After a delightful lunch, we'll continue our journey north, passing through the city of Patras. We'll have the opportunity to cross the awe-inspiring Rio–Antirrio Bridge, one of the world's longest cable-stayed bridges and an engineering marvel. This bridge spans the Gulf of Corinth near Patras, connecting the town of Rio on the Peloponnese peninsula to Antirrio on mainland Greece. As we make our way across, we'll be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding area.

In the afternoon, we will arrive at Lefkada, a captivating Greek island nestled in the Ionian Sea. This island is connected to the mainland by a causeway, allowing for easy access. Prepare to be enchanted by the pristine beauty of Lefkada, with its turquoise waters and picturesque landscapes.

Relax and unwind as we settle into our accommodations on this breathtaking island, ready to embark on further adventures in the days to come.

LEFKADA

Our thoughtfully crafted itinerary allows us to fully immerse ourselves in the island experience over the next two days. We'll have the pleasure of exploring the enchanting beaches on the west coast, such as Porto Katsiki and Egremni, renowned for their dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear turquoise waters.

On the east coast, we'll discover the charm of traditional villages, including the delightful seaside resort of Nydri. In the northern part of the island, Lefkada town serves as both the gateway to Lefkada and its capital, offering a blend of history and modernity. In the south, the windsurfing hotspot of Vassiliki awaits, attracting enthusiasts from around the world.

As we embark on a picturesque drive around the island, we'll have the opportunity to relish the stunning scenery and make memorable stops along the way. Indulge in a delightful lunch at a typical tavern, savoring the flavors of local cuisine. LEFKADA - ATHENS

 

Today, we embark on our journey back to Athens, following a scenic highway that treats us to breathtaking views of the Saronic Gulf and its picturesque landscapes.

Upon arrival, we will arrange a comfortable transfer to your booked hotel in Athens, allowing you to extend your stay and continue exploring the city at your leisure. Alternatively, if your journey comes to an end, we can provide a direct transfer to the airport for your departure.

Reflect on the wonderful memories and experiences gained during our time together as we bid farewell to this captivating destination.
