What you will do...

Experience a refreshing day trip from Thessaloniki with a visit to ancient Pella and the scenic town of Edessa. We will start by exploring the birthplace of Alexander the Great, where you’ll walk among the ruins of the old Macedonian capital and admire intricate mosaic floors that have stood the test of time. The nearby museum is modern and fully accessible, offering a deeper look into Macedonia’s powerful past.

Then we will head to Edessa, known for its spectacular waterfalls that cascade right through the town center. With easy pathways and panoramic viewing spots, it’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature, and take in the cool mountain air before heading back to the city.

What you will visit...

Pella

Pella is the ancient capital of Macedonia and the birthplace of Alexander the Great — so if you’re even a little into history, this place is a must. Just under an hour from Thessaloniki, it feels like stepping straight into ancient Greece. You can walk through the remains of the old city, including houses, baths, and market areas, and see the famous mosaic floors that are still beautifully preserved. The nearby museum is modern and fully accessible, with lots of info and amazing artifacts that bring Pella’s glory days to life. It’s quiet, open, and great for a calm, meaningful visit.

Edessa

Edessa is all about nature, charm, and waterfalls. It’s a small town about 90 minutes from Thessaloniki, and it’s known for its stunning waterfalls that literally pour through the heart of the town. The main falls are easy to reach via smooth paths, and there are accessible viewing platforms so everyone can enjoy the amazing views. The surrounding park area is peaceful and green, with cafés and places to sit and soak it all in. It’s the kind of place where you can take a breath, enjoy a slower pace, and just enjoy the sound of rushing water and fresh mountain air.
